Employed by Spie Matthew Hall Ltd (SMH) and working alongside the Project Director, David was responsible for all commercial activities for SMH’s operations at Heathrow Terminal 5, valued at c. £383m, which culminated in successful final account negotiations with the client in August 2008.
SMH were the principal M&E Services provider encompassing design, manufacturing, assembly, testing and commissioning. The scope of work covered the key buildings within the T5 site including the main terminal building, T5 Concourse A, the Energy Centre, the Airside Road Tunnels (ART), the new Heathrow Air Traffic Control Tower (HATCT). SMH were engaged as a 1st Tier supplier, operating under the innovative and collaborative ‘T5 Agreement’.
- P&L Responsibility with annual turnover at T5; £120M in 2005, £110M in 2006 and £70M in 2007.
- Monthly financial and commercial reporting directly to the Board.
- Motivation and management of the team – at peak in excess of 30 Nr across David’s functional responsibilities including the site based estimating, supply chain, cost management, project controls, and finance functions.
- Worked closely with the client and his consultants (Turner & Townsend, EC Harris) to create an effective integrated cost and commercial team.
- Drafted funding papers for Client approval to draw down project funding.
- Provided support and assistance to ensure BAA secured entitlement through T5 insurance policies.
- Reviewed simplified and standardised commercial & project control processes & reporting.
- Agreement and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators for SMH performance with BAA Supply Chain.
